EDEA RENOV Project
Development of energy efficiency in architecture: rehabilitation, Innovation and ICTs.
EDEA-RENOV is a project of Regional Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Planning and Tourism of Government of Extremadura, financed by LIFE+09 programme. The LIFE programme is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment. The general objective of LIFE is to contribute to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental policy and legislation by co-financing pilot or demonstration projects with European added value. The main objectives of EDEA-RENOV are points over a new need focused on existing buildings that should be renovated and on which it is not viable to apply the same technology than new ones. So EDEA-RENOV to achieve their new goals will use three ways: Renovation, Innovation and Communication Technologies and Information (ICT).
Expected results are:
Socials benefits: improving the quality of life, energetic balance in expenditure of households, reduce energy demand and dependency on fossil fuel.
Economics benefits: increasing the value of property, stimulate business activity and create employment.
Environmental benefits: reduction pollution and emissions CO2, reduce source materials and nonrenewable resources.
EDEA-RENOV project aims at creating an energy map of region, energy assesment in social neighborhoods (Santa Engracia (Badajoz), San Lázaro (Mérida)), and four houses of Extremadura. Also, The house where the different measures of sustainability, energy efficiency and renewable energies will be test is named “experimental dwelling unit”. The other one is named “dwelling unit pattern”. The correlation of the energy performance of the experimental dwelling unit and the dwelling unit pattern will allow technicians to obtain comparative data of passive and active strategies in real time.
The following actions will be developed:
1. The creation a energy and climate map of all existing building (GIS) in Extremadura, evaluation the urban environment and the quality level of construction.
2.Measures cataloging and energy-saving strategies. In general terms the project provides an overall impact on sustainable development, as rehabilitated and renovated buildings and houses minimize the impact on nature and climate by diminishing pollution since it incorporates solutions related to the use of renewable energies and eco-friendly building materials and energy generating systems.
3.Create a software for evaluating and calculating or measuring the amount of energy needed to find the confort.
