     The Regional Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing Urban Planning and Tourism will exercise the responsibilities in infrastructure and transport which the previous Ministry of Infrastructure and Technological Development had assigned and the responsibilities of the Extremadura Agency of Housing, Urban Planning and Landscape.

 

PARTICIPATION IN THE PROJECT
The Ministry of Public Works of the Regional Government of Extremadura has been the precursor, through the Housing and Architecture Head Office, of the EDEA project aiming to develop a design and building houses methodology under sustainability criteria and using renewable sources to achieve a better energy and acoustic performance, improving the quality in the construction and the comfort of users in order to apply those results to Extremadura housing policy actions
.

 

Therefore, some of the functions to be carried by the Ministry of Public Works of the Regional Government of Extremadura, as leader of the EDEA project, are:

  •    Coordination of the project.
  •    Administrative and technical management.
  •    Participation in simulations.
  •    Participation in design.
  •    Divulgation activities about the projects activities and its results.
  •    Contact with potential external partners that may provide an added value.
  •    Technology watching during the project development.

ACCIONA

     ACCIONA is one of the most important Spanish enterprises, leader in promotion and management of the infrastructures, in renewable energies’ development, in water treatment and in services provider. ACCIONA was the first European construction company with a R&D Center. In this center, ACCIONA participates in energy efficiency projects in the construction field such as:

 

  • e-DIANA. (Leader)-Embedded Systems for Energy Efficient Buildings. FP7 UE 2008-2012. In order to allow a sustainable urban life through rationalization of resources use and at the same time improving the comfort in urban environment by integrated intelligent and integration technologies.

  • RENTABLE. “Resources and effective integration of renewable energy in the existing building skyscraper”- FP7 UE 2008-2012.

  • H2SUSBUILD. Sustainable buildings and hydrogen. 2008-2012. Zero emissions building development using hydrogen obtained from renewable energy sources.

  • MESSIB. Multi-source energy storage system integrated in building. 2008-2011. Storage system analysis; Electrical (Flywheel and batteries) and Thermal (ground storage and PCM) being integrated in the building.

  • EINSTEIN - Effective INtegration of Seasonal Thermal Energy IN existing buildings. Taking into consideration that heat demand can represent up to 60-70% of total amount of energy consumption in a residential building, heating system based on Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage (STES) concept is currently the most promising technology able to fulfill the objectives established in Europe about energy efficiency in a short term.

  • FC DISTRICT. A Combination between an innovative energy production concept and efficient energy distribution at district level, using decentralized CHP systems in building coupled, new advanced materials, and a smart thermal storage and optimized distribution network at district level.

  • E-HUB-An E-Hub is a physical cross point, similar to an energy station, in which energy and information streams are interconnected, and where the different forms of energy can be converted into each other and/or can be stored. The E-hub exchanges energy via the energy grids between the different actors (e.g. households, renewable energy plants, offices), who may be a consumer at one time, and a supplier at another time. The consumers and suppliers exchange information on their energy needs and energy production with the energy hub, the hub then distributes the energy available in the most efficient way.

  • The SHOWE-IT project is an initiative that aims to reduce energy and water consumption in social housing against (for all stakeholders) favourable conditions, by creating a win-win situation where the different stakeholders all have something to gain. This project should prove the attribution that ICT solutions could make to create these circumstances and help create situations for replication that will be attractive and accepted on a large scale across Europe.

AGENEX

    La Agencia Extremeña de la Energía tiene como objetivos principales la implementación de programas de ahorro y eficiencia energética en todas las áreas de consumo, la promoción del uso de las energías renovables y la diversificación de los recursos energéticos.

     En continuo crecimiento, desde su creación en el año 2002 a través del programa europeo SAVE, el equipo de trabajo está compuesto por más de 20 personas, de las cuales más del 90% son titulados superiores en Ingeniería Industrial u otros estudios de carácter técnico. La alta cualificación y formación técnica de su personal ha permitido a la Agencia tomar parte en numerosos proyectos del sector de la ingeniería, con especial énfasis en proyectos de ahorro y eficiencia energética y energías renovables, tanto a nivel regional, nacional e internacional, ya fuese en cooperación con organismos públicos o privados.

Eduardo Montero Fernández de Bobadilla

    He is a Building Engineer and is at present self-employed.  Is an expert on energy efficiency, among other fields.

He has taken part in the following research projects:

  • A research study on building envelopes (singular building façades); Centre for the Development of Industry and Technology (CDTI).
  • Description of pavements and suitability criteria for specific uses for different kinds of floor coverings. CDTI.
  • Using structural glazing at airport control tower cabs in order to avoid vision dead angles.
  • Research study and development of energy efficiency in green buildings; the particular case of air-to-earth heat exchangers.
  • Heat ant noise performance of double-skin façades.
  • INVISO Project (Strategic, singular scientific and technological Project) – “Sub-project 10: Systems for performance optimization of dwellings”.
  • EDEA Project (Efficient Development of Green Architecture: Methods and Technologies for social housing building in Extremadura.

And has also collaborated on the following projects:

  • Strategic, singular APOLO Project.  Sub-project S:  Air-conditioning systems and ambient intelligence.
  • Decathlon 2007 Solar Project.

Fairbanks Arquitectos

Logo Fairbanks     Fairbanks Arquitectos fue fundado en 2011 dando continuidad al trabajo de GOP Oficina de Proyectos, empresa previa de Bruce Fairbanks con otros socios. Fairbanks Arquitectos combina diseño e innovación técnica para conseguir la excelencia en los proyectos que acomete.

El estudio está formado por un equipo de arquitectos y profesionales de otras disciplinas con más de 15 años de experiencia trabajando juntos. Cada proyecto es desarrollado por el equipo de especialistas que las características específicas del trabajo reclama, haciendo posible dar repuestas a los requerimientos del cliente con soluciones innovadoras.

La experiencia acumulada durante estos años de ejercicio profesional abarca el desarrollo de proyectos y dirección de obras principalmente en tres áreas: Instalaciones aeroportuarias, viviendas y sector residencial, y edificios y construcciones singulares, fundamentalmente en el sector terciario.

Así mismo Fairbanks Arquitectos mantiene su colaboración con centros universitarios e instituciones públicas y privadas, líderes en diferentes áreas de conocimiento tecnológico, para desarrollar conjuntamente proyectos de I+D+i.

  • Investigaciones. Entre los proyectos de investigación efectuados por Fairbanks Arquitectos, figuran estudios sobre la envolvente de edificios, las aplicaciones del vidrio estructural en fanales de torres de control, estudios sobre la prefabricación, y los diversos criterios de sostenibilidad de la arquitectura. Actualmente FA se encuentra inmerso en el proyecto de Vivienda Experimental EDEA.
  • Estudios especiales. FA ha realizado trabajos de investigación en colaboración con algunas de las mejores instituciones, tales como la Escuela de Ingenieros Aeronáuticos, el Laboratorio de Aerodinámica del Instituto Universitario “Ignacio Da Riva”,  la Escuela de Ingenieros de Caminos Canales y Puertos o la Fundación para el Fomento de la Innovación Industrial.

INTROMAC

     INTROMAC is a Technological Research Institute aimed to improve competitiveness of companies, mainly SMEs, of the building and natural-stone sectors, through R&D and innovation activities, as well as training, quality and sectorial market promotion. The Centre focuses its research lines in fundamental areas for these sectors, such as energy efficiency, sustainability, new/improved materials and structures, historical heritage and industrial processes optimization. It has been involved in almost 200 R&D projects since 2000, in which it has played different roles, from leader to partner or resources provider.

In the EDEA and EDEA-RENOV projects, INTROMAC participates in several actions, such as scientific-technical, commercial, for managing and dissemination, and specific actions of the projects’ phases. However, INTROMAC has a direct responsibility definedin the development of different tasks of each project.

EDEA Project:

  • Coordinated participation in the pilot houses execution and the passive strategies implementation to monitor and compile results.
  • Development of a sustainability assessment simplified method of the passive strategies in a theoretical and practical level, where environmental, economical and social impacts are analyzed considering the building’s and materials’ life cycle.
  • Monitoring and tracking involvement of the executed solutions in the pilot houses, in order to be evaluated with the methodology developed.
  • Supervision and maintenance of the monitoring installation to ensure a valid results compilation.
  • Dissemination and results exploitation throughout the web and training activities.

EDEA-RENOV Project:

  • Development of the Sustainable Retrofitting Observatory online, resulting of technological surveillance, internet updated and focused on different user profiles.
  • Monitoring of the strategies executed in Santa Engracia’s neighborhood.
  • Development of the simplified method of sustainable strategies for retrofitting; based on EDEA’s Project methodology, environmental, economical and social impacts will be measured for retrofitting strategies in existing buildings.
  • All together participation in the energy improvements proposal for the neighborhoods, considering the knowledge generated in the EDEA Project and other energy improvement intervention.
  • Dissemination and results exploitation throughout the web, organized meetings, experts contacting, etc.

      Empresa fundada en el año 1999, especializada en el campo de la edificación, que cuenta con una plantilla de más de 100 personas. Dispone de un equipo multidisciplinar compuesto por arquitectos , ingenieros de caminos, industriales, telecomunicaciones, agrónomos y aparejadores.
